Hostilities between Iran and Israel continued on Thursday with Iranian missiles hitting the Soroka Medical Center in Israel's southern city of Beersheba. The facility is reportedly run by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
A number of residential buildings were also hit, according to the Associated Press, which reported that at least 240 Israelis have been injured so far.
Moreover, Iran plans on striking Israel’s Channel 14 news station and issued evacuation warnings, according to CNN.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that his country’s military “has been instructed and knows that in order to achieve all of its goals.” He added that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei “absolutely should not continue to exist.”
Moreover, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with an Israeli public broadcaster that “I instructed that no one in Iran should have immunity.”
Their comments come as an Israeli airstrike hit the Arak hard water reactor, according to Iranian state-run news agency IRNA. Workers were evacuated prior to the strike, according to the report, which also added that there is “no radiation danger whatsoever.”
The reactor is one of several nuclear facilities targeted by Israel since hostilities began last Friday.
While both countries have not updated their official casualty numbers, the Washington-based group Human Rights Activists in Iran said at least 639 Iranians have been killed and over 1,300 injured.
Israel’s death toll remains the same since Saturday, with at least 24 Israelis killed and hundreds injured. The number is expected to rise when updated.
Trump to make decision on Iran in two weeks
While the role of the United States in the ongoing conflict remains uncertain, President Donald Trump is expected to announce his final decision within two weeks.
“Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place in the near future, I will make my decision of whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a press briefing on Thursday while reading a statement from Trump.
Calling the president "a peacemaker in chief," she added "He is the peace through strength president. And so if there’s a chance for diplomacy, the president’s always going to grab it. But he’s not afraid to use strength as well.”
Trump’s statement comes as he continues to send mixed signals about potential offensive action in the conflict, while still wanting a possible deal with Iran over its nuclear program.
In response, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned that Tehran would defend itself if the US becomes directly involved in the war.
“Iran will have no other option but to use its tools to teach aggressors a lesson and defend itself,” he told state media. “Our military decision-makers have all necessary options on the table.”
