The Madleen aid flotilla, which set sail from a Sicilian port en route to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid, was intercepted by the Israeli military early Monday morning in international waters, about 200 kilometers from the Palestinian enclave.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the group sponsoring the vessel, deemed the ships seizure as a violation of international law.

Video footage released by the Coalition shows the moment the civilian ship was surrounded by Israeli forces.

In the four-minute video, passengers appear panicked as Israeli personnel board the vessel, who then begin questioning the 12 activists onboard after ordering them raise their arms.

Prominent members of the group include Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan.
