A video circulating on social media Wednesday shows CCTV footage of a 31-year-old Belarusian man picking up an 18-month-old Iranian boy and slamming him to the floor at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, leaving the child unconscious.

The video then shows a bystander rushing to aid the toddler and confronting the attacker, who fled the scene.

The assailant, identified as Belarusian national Vladimir Vitkov, was arrested shortly afterward by Russian police.

The toddler, Yazdan, had just arrived in Moscow with his pregnant mother. According to reports, they were fleeing Israeli bombardment in Iran.

Yazdan was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in a coma with critical injuries to his head and spine.

Russian authorities said Vitkov confessed to the crime during interrogation, stating, “I attempted to murder a child.” His motive remains unclear, though he claimed he was “under the influence of drugs.”

The Iranian Embassy in India posted the footage on X (formerly Twitter), condemning the attack.

“A traveler at Moscow airport brutally assaulted an Iranian child, whose family had fled the Israeli aggression. The child is in a coma and has sustained life-threatening injuries,” the embassy said.
