The United Kingdom's Office of National Statistics announced that its latest data shows the name 'Muhammad' has become the most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales, surpassing Noah in 2023.
This is the first time an Islamic name has risen to the top in any of the UK countries, with 4,661 baby boys being named 'Muhammad.'
According to the First Post, the announcement excludes the other written variations of the name, such as "Mohammed, Mohammad, Muhammed, or Mohamed." When summed up, the variations total over 7,7000 in 2023 alone, making one in every 40 boys in England and Wales named as a "Muhammad" of some sort.
The name has grown since the 1980s.
