The Israeli military has launched a new multi-front operation in Gaza, killing nearly 300 Palestinians across the enclave on Sunday and Monday.
At least 135 people were killed in northern Gaza on Sunday, including five journalists according to a report by Al Jazeera.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on X that they “struck over 160 terror targets” throughout Gaza.
However, one of the last operational medical facilities in northern Gaza, the Indonesian Hospital, ceased operations on Sunday due to Israeli forces besieging its complex, according to multiple reports.
On Monday, multiple residential areas across the enclave and a refugee camp were targets of more Israeli attacks, killing at least 144 people.
Al-Mawasi camp, which houses displaced refugees in Gaza’s northern city of Khan Younis, was bombarded by Israeli airstrikes. At least 36 people were killed and over 100 injured.
The renewed assaults come as the IDF launched Operation Gideon’s Chariots on Sunday, announcing in another online statement they attacked “670” areas in the enclave last week.
The statement also read that these were “Hamas terror targets” and resulted in the “elimination” of “dozens of terrorists.”
Despite the alleged terror targets, over 400 Palestinians were killed last week, with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saying that he is “alarmed” by the renewed assaults.
UNRWA, the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees, said on X that “atrocities are becoming a new norm, under our watch, making the unbearable bearable with indifference. Is this our new ‘humanity?”
Israel’s plethora of attacks come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that “basic” aid will be allowed into Gaza amid increased levels of malnutrition and fears of widespread famine since aid was blocked three months ago.
