Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump said President Biden was “like a Palestinian” Thursday night and criticized Biden for not helping Israel “finish” the job” against Hamas. 

“He doesn’t want to do it. He’s become like a Palestinian – but they don’t like him because he’s a very bad Palestinian, he’s a weak one,” Trump said in the first debate for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. 

Human rights groups on Friday condemned Trump and said that the langage the former president used was “racist” and "insulting.” Neither moderators nor Biden condemned the former president’s remarks. 

In a question regarding his handling of Gaza’s “humanitarian crisis”, President Biden claimed the only one who hasn’t agreed to a ceasefire deal is Hamas and said they “wanted to continue the war.” Trump doubled down and added that this was untrue. 

"Actually, Israel is the one (that wants to keep going), and you should let them go and let them finish the job,” he said. 

Israel President Netanyahu has publicly rejected a ceasefire deal multiple times. 

The next presidential debate between President Biden and Donald Trump is set for Tuesday, Sep. 10, at 9 p.m Eastern Time, and will be hosted by ABC News.
