Third Biden appointee resigns over administration’s stance on Gaza

Biden’s handling of Gaza’s humanitarian crisis lead to the resignation of a third appointee from his administration on Tuesday, who stated she could no longer be “complicit in the genocide of the Palestinians.”

“I came to understand that even if the agency I’m working at is not producing foreign policy, serving in the administration in any capacity does essentially make you complicit in the genocide of the Palestinians,” wrote Maryam Hassanein X.

Hassanein, who is the youngest appointee known to resign from the administration over the ongoing genocide, worked as a special assistant for land and minerals management. 

In her statement, she alleged that Biden’s continuous funding for violence and anti-Arab and Islamophobic sentiments have only furthered hate-crimes.

“Through their policy choices and dehumanization of Arabs and Muslims, it has become clear to me that I do not have a place in this administration,” she said.
