Muhammed Bhar, 24, an autistic Palestinian man with Down syndrome was killed by an Israeli military dog in his family’s home in eastern Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood after Israeli soldiers entered the house.
He was mauled by their dog, first being attacked in the chest, and then on the arm. His body then relaxed and the dog continued to attack him, his mother recalled. The family tried to explain to the soldiers that he was disabled, but to no avail.
After the Israeli military withdrew from the neighborhood on Wednesday, the family returned to see Bhar decomposing with blood seeping from his body. “He was lying on his stomach, his body had decayed and worms had begun to eat his face," said his older brother Jebril to Middle East Eye.
