Islamic has obtained documents detailing the three phases of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal agreed by the Palestinian group Hamas and Israel on Thursday. The United States, Qatar, and Egypt mediated between the two warring sides for months in the Qatari capital of Doha.
The documents are from anonymous individuals tied to Israeli officials.
The Israeli war cabinet voted on Friday to accept the deal, despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly accusing Hamas of backing out of the deal over a last-minute change imposed by the Israelis.
Hamas denies Netanyahu’s claim.
The first phase of the ceasefire will take into effect on Sunday, one day before US President-elect Donald Trump assumes office. One of his campaign promises was to end the Gaza War before he assumes office on Jan 20.
If the first two phases are implemented, the third phase stipulates the end of the Gaza War, which has left over 46,000 Palestinians dead, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Over 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million population is internally displaced, according to the United Nations.
