The Iranian Presidential elections will move to a runoff between reformist Masoud Pezeshkian and conservative hard-liner Saeed Jalili, after neither secured a simple majority on Friday. 

This  Presidential election follows the sudden death of the former President Ebrahim Raisi and Former Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabollahian in a helicopter crash in May. 

This is the second time in the Islamic Republic’s history where a runoff election will be held, the first being in 2005

This year saw record-low numbers with more than 60% of eligible voters not casting their ballot.
