Documents seen by Al Jazeera reveal that a ship containing explosives was loaded in India and was on its ways to Israel’s port of Ashdod, which is 18 miles from Gaza. Marine tracking sites present the ship leaving southeast Chennai in India on April 2, going around Africa to avoid the Red Sea, where they might run into Yemen's Houthis that have been attacking ships. The Houthis claim that they target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain.
“Collaboration between India and Israel has been happening for quite a few years now, “ said Zain Hussain, a researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) “It’s not unfeasible that we may see some made-in-India components being used by Israel [in its war on Gaza]”.
On June 6, Quds News Network shared a video of the remains of a missile dropped by Israeli warplanes on the Nuseirat refugee camp that read, “Made in India”.
The Indian government has generally attempted to present itself as a neutral peacemaker, calling for a ceasefire and the return of Israeli hostages. India’s shipments to Israel could reveal a different role that they are playing as a direct supplier for Israel’s genocide.
Al Jazeera contacted India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence on June 17 and June 21 for comments, but did not receive a response.
