Blinken says the U.S. was not involved in the killing of Haniyeh

The U.S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told Channel News Asia that the U.S was not “aware or involved in” the killing of the Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh on Wednesday. 

“This is something we were not aware of or involved in,” Blinken said. “It’s very hard to speculate, and I’ve learned over many years never to speculate on the impact one event may have on something else. So I can’t tell you what this means.”

Hamas has since blamed the attack on Israel, while Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has promised “harsh punishment” for Israel in response to the assassination.
